Rosa Louise Parks

1955 in Alabama, after putting a stand against discrimination of the blacks, she became the beginning of the movement.
In those years, whites and blacks in the southern states of the United States  get into buses from a separate door and sat in separate places reserved for them. One day, Montgomery Rosa Parks, got on the bus . A white, , could not find the place in the whites' part and , in the part of blacks,  he tried to make sit up to Rosa Parks, who was sitting in the seat,. Although the driver warned her to get up, Rosa Parks did not stand up as well. She was arrested and went to jail.
For a period of more than one year after this event, Blacks had never used buses, and went to walk everywhere. One year after, protests workd and  the Miracle happened . The U.S. Federal Court banned this practice in the the buses But Rosa Parks was forced to move north to Alabama harassed by whites. At the same time the governor of Alabama, was in effort to take blacks away from universities. There have been broken out big events. A growing movement led by Martin Luther King in 1964, succeeded . Rosa Parks became a symbol of this resistance.
In 1999, Time magazine chose Rosa,  human rights defender. In 1996, Parks was awarded the Presidential Freedom Medal. At the beginning of 1999, the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded, and the award was given by Bill Clinton.
